Meal Time Antics

In the evenings my husband and I sit down with our son for dinner. And as always, my kid gives me every excuse under the sun to avoid eating, "I'm not hungry!",(20mins after sitting down)"Its still too hot!" etc. However, every once in a while he comes up with a new one that has us cracking up.

-During one particular meal of Cuban Steak and Rice he tried his usual routine. Well, I ignored it and carried on a different conversation. A couple minutes later my son's plate gets pushed aside, and as I turned to look at him, he very loudly dropped his fork onto the table with a BIG exageratted frown on his face. "Ummmm,What do you think your doing?" I asked. In the saddest possible voice he said "I just can't do it mommy...I just can't." Naturally my reply was "Well, what CAN'T you do exactly?" He looked at me and said "I Can't eat my food because my hands are just to small." Needless to say he was very dissapointed that his Grand scheme didn't work. lol

-Another night, another dinner and yet another attempt at not eating. This time for dinner I had made Chuck Roast and homemade mashed potatoes. It used to be one of my little man's favorite dishes. However for what ever reason he decided that he was not interested in it anymore. After chastising him about eating his dinner a couple times he wasn't happy. Well, dinner carried on and he still refused to consume anything. So, at this point I scooped up some potato from his plate myself and told him to "open up! Here it comes!" He quickly closed his mouth and started wimpering slumped in his chair with a scared look on his face. "Whats wrong now?" I asked. He said "I don't like it mommy and my mouth is too scared." At that point I was laughing so hard I just gave up and yes, he won. I made him PBnJ instead with that Jelly Fish jelly he likes so much ;)

Comedy Stylings of a 3Yr Old (Part 2)

Well, I got quite a few hits with my first post so I've decided to post a second. Here are 2 more interesting conversations entertained by my son :)

-It was the middle of the afternoon and Definitely cloudy outside this day. As we always do, my son and I sat down around noon for some lunch. Being that our dinning room table faces the large Glass doors to the porch, my little one usually enjoys gazing wondrously outside. With a mouth full of Mac N Cheese he asked "Hey. mommy...Where did the sun go?" Answering as simple as I could "Well, the sun is stuck behind the clouds today so we can't see Mr. Sun right now." Just then my kid lit up, jumped straight up in his chair and with a pointing finger above his head he exclaimed "I HAVE AN IDEA!" "Whats you idea?" I asked curiously. "Well" he started, "Go open the door,go outside, stand on the deck and go COCKA-DOODLE-DO!!! and then the sun will come out!" :) I wish it was that simple to fix a cloudy day...don't you? lol

-As a good martial artist always does before class, I was ironing my uniform one evening on the floor. Being that this was my first class getting back into it after 4 years, my son had never seen me in this uniform. He politely watched me as I finished Ironing and stared at me a little perplexed when I put it on. I knew a question was brewing. Sure enough he finally asked "Wow mommy...whats that?" "Its a Karate Uniform for Karate Class today." I said. Satisfied with the answer he ran away to his room but immediately ran back. "MOM! Can I have a karate Unicorn too?" With a smile on my face now and just to confirm what he had asked" What was that little man?" " A karate Unicorn mommy...I want one too!" ;) The things kids say are precious and timeless. I'm thankful I wrote them down.

Comedy Stylings of a 3yr Old

Looking for a little laugh today? Well, having a 3 year old son for anyone can be a challenge and fun at the same time. So, below is a compilation of the most innocent yet funny questions and comments I've heard from my son thus far.(More to come I am sure)

-While enjoying a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich for lunch with my son one afternoon, I noticed he kept stopping to look at the inside of his sandwich. Well, I asked him what he was doing and he looked up at me and asked with such a serious look on his face "Mommy...Do the jelly fish make the jelly?" I nearly fell off my chair laughing and concluded that perhaps my son watches too much Sponge bob!

-One day while at the Dr.'s office my son was examining the different anatomy posters hanging all over the walls. He proceeded to point out different things like eyes, ears, nose etc. Then with great excitement he said " LOOK! LOOK! MOMMY! A BRAIN!". Proud of him for pointing that out on his own I said Good Job! Suddenly the smile from his face faded..."Mommy there is something wrong with my brain." I reassured him that his brain was fine and his reply (While pointing inside his ear) "No, mommy! My brain is stuck in here!" Needless to say that when the Dr. Finally came in we both had a good laugh.
